THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN HRM


The combination of technology in Human Resource Management (HRM) has transformed how organization manage their workforce. In the modern business environment, technology is a grave enabler of efficient, effective, and strategic HRM practices. Through automating process improving decision making, and employee engagement, technology has transformed HRM into a more responsive function. One of the most important impact of technology in HRM is in recruitment and selection. Traditional methods of hiring are time consuming and often limited in reach. However, with the advertisement of applicant tracking system and recruitment tools, HR department can now streamline the hiring process, from job posting to candidate screening. These technology allow the analysis of vast amount of data to identify the best candidates quickly, reducing the time to hire and ensuring a better fit between the job and the candidates (Dr.S.Yuvaraj, 2021).

Employee development and tanning have also been significantly improved by technology. E-learning platforms and learning management system provides employees with access to wide range of training resources and courses. These platforms allow for personalized learning experience, where employee can learn at their own place and convenience. Additionally, virtual and improved reality technology are being used for immersive training experiences, particularly in industries where trainings critical (Sherif, 2023).

Traditional annual performance review are being replaced by continuous feedback systems, simplified by performance management software. These tools allow for real time feedback, goal tracking and performance analytics, developing a culture of continues improvement and development. Managers and employees can engage in regular checking’s, ensuring that performance issues are addressed promptly and development opportunities are identified.

Technology also plays role in enhancing employee engagement and well-being. HR portal and mobile apps provide employees with easy access to HR services, from leave management to benefit administration. Employee engagement platforms offer tools for conducting surveys, gathering feedback, and developing communication within the organization. Additionally, wellness apps and platform support employee’s physical and mental health through various programs and resources, promoting a healthier and more productive workforce (Bulmash, 2024).

Challenges of technology in HRM

Technology have brought many benefits to HRM, but they have also presented challenges that HR professional can face. These challenges includes the potential for cultural misunderstandings and conflicts, as well as the risk of job loss or reduced job opportunities for HR professional due to adoption of HR technology tools and outsourcing HR tasks to countries with lower cost. To succeed in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing business environment HR professional must able to effectively manage cultural differences and adopt ti technological development. It is Important for HR professional to adopt to these change and develop new skills in order to take on more strategic roles within their organization.  

Conclusion

Technology is an essential asset in modern HRM. Automating administrative tasks, improving process, facilitating continues learning, and improving performance management, technology allows HR professionals to focus on strategic initiatives that drive organizational success. As technology continues to change, its role in HRM will only grow, offering new opportunities or innovation and efficiency in managing the human capital of organization.
